We provide an exciting and innovative school-based initial teacher training programme in a range of Good and Outstanding schools leading to QTS. We also provide PGCE and masters’ credits for trainees who wish to take this option.
The School Direct programme is an employment-based route into teaching leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) qualification.
Our programme prepares trainees to be outstanding teachers through a high-quality teaching and learning experience. The programme supports trainees to meet the government expectations outlined in the 2012 Teachers' Standards. Impact on pupil progress is at the heart of our programme.
Trainees will be employed by their placement school and will work alongside Good and Outstanding teachers four days a week. Weekly Professional Study Sessions take place at the Atkins Centre in Sidcup, where you will gain the support and skills needed to develop your classroom practice.
Once qualified, we also offer a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Programme, valuable mentoring opportunities and support to progress into a Leadership role and beyond.
We work with TKAT and partner schools throughout Bexley, Welling, Swanley, Bromley, Sidcup and Medway.
